The New 2025 Regulations
Starting August 1, 2025, Louisiana window tint laws have been updated. Here is exactly what you need to know to ensure your vehicle complies with state regulations:
Front Side Windows
For all vehicles (Sedans, Trucks, SUVs, and Vans), the front side windows cannot be darker than 25% VLT (Visual Light Transmission).
Back Sides & Rear Windows
For Trucks, SUVs, and Vans, the back side windows and rear windshield can be as dark as you want. There are no darkness limits for the rear half of these vehicles.
Lafayette Parish Update
Inspection stickers are no longer a thing in Lafayette Parish.
This means inspection stations will no longer be checking your window tint locally. While you no longer have to worry about failing an inspection for tint in Lafayette, we still recommend staying within legal limits to avoid potential traffic stops.
